Bioengineering is an emerging interdisciplinary field that strengthens the vital principles of engineering with biological sciences and has gained a significant focus in the global economy due to its broad-spectrum applications in biomedical instrumentations, biosensors, bioinformatics, biomaterials, and environmental sustainability. The B.S. Bioengineering Program is line up with the Kingdom’s Vision 2030 planned goals to support its economy by generating revenues from non-oil sectors and to develop its global status by utilizing its considerable potential in the emerging scientific arenas. The interdisciplinary nature of the bioengineering discipline in the long run, will provide commercialization opportunities for its graduates in line with entrepreneurial spirits. The graduates of the program will learn skills including analytical ability, logic, deduction, and programming that can tailor their studies to the type of employment and research they would like to pursue in the future.
After graduation, the BIOE graduates will be able to:
PEO-1: Progress their career in industries of biotechnology, health care equipment and technology, life science tools, and pharmaceuticals.
PEO-2: Integrate their knowledge with bioengineering practice, innovation and technology development.
PEO-3: Pursue a graduate degree in bioengineering or other related fields.
PEO-4: Pursue leadership roles in industry, business, and government agencies.
Following is the list of the program learning outcomes (PLOs) of BS-BIOE program:
K: Knowledge and Understanding, S: Skills, V: Values
