PulseVAD Workshop

The Bioengineering department at King Fahd University of Petroleum & Minerals, actively took part in a workshop held at Dhahran Techno Valley Holding Co. - DTVC(DTV), in collaboration with Northern Research, represented by Dr. Einar Gude, Dr. Arnt E. Fiane, and Mr. Tor Kristoffersen, along with KFUPM. The primary objective of the workshop was to explore and advance a novel technology: an upgraded Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) designed specifically for patients with Heart Failure with Preserved Ejection Fraction (HFpEF).

The workshop brought together experts and professionals from various fields such as cardiology, bioengineering, computer science, among others. Engaging in fruitful discussions, brainstorming sessions, and hands-on activities, participants collectively tackled the challenges faced by HFpEF patients. They also sought innovative solutions and advancements in LVAD technology to improve the quality of life for these individuals. The workshop served as a valuable platform for sharing knowledge, fostering collaboration for future research, and development initiatives. The interdisciplinary nature of the workshop facilitated the integration of engineering principles and medical expertise, driving progress in the design and production of an enhanced LVAD device.
