On January 27, 2025, the Bioengineering Department at KFUPM successfully hosted its 3rd Bioengineering Day, bringing together experts, industry leaders, and students to explore recent advancements in bioengineering. The event featured expert talks, a panel discussion, research showcases, and networking sessions, fostering collaboration between academia and industry.
The day began with insightful presentations by Dr. Sahrawi Chaib on tech entrepreneurship and Dr. Monther Alhamdoosh on bioinformatics research in KSA. This was followed by a panel discussion with Dr. Alhamdoosh and Ms. Rahmah Alqatari from NEOM, focusing on industrial opportunities in bioengineering and its growing impact across various sectors.
In the afternoon, attendees engaged with representatives from SEDRA Limited Company, Philips, MediServ, National Water Company (NWC), and KFUPM’s Biosystems and Machines Research Center during the exhibition sessions. The event also celebrated the 2024 iGEM Team, who shared their journey as Silver Medal winners, and concluded with a bioethics debate on key ethical challenges in the field.
With a strong exchange of ideas and valuable networking, the event was a great success. KFUPM Bioengineering Department thanks all participants and looks forward to future events that continue to strengthen the bioengineering community.
