Biography:

Trained as a Molecular Biologist and Parasitologist, I earned my 1995 PhD from the University of Montpellier, focusing on trypanosome detection in tsetse flies. From 1996-2011, I conducted Postdoctoral research on folate metabolism, antimalarial drug resistance, and drug repositioning for malaria (Plasmodium falciparum parasite) in Kenya (The Kenya Medical Research Institute) and the UK (University of Liverpool and University of Oxford). research on folate metabolism and antimalarial drug resistance, and drug repositioning in malaria (Plasmodium falciparum parasite) in Kenya (The Kenya Medical Research Institute) and the UK (University of Liverpool and University of Oxford). I joined KFUPM University in 2011, and I have initiated new research projects on environmental microbiology, investigating and characterizing microorganisms that biodegrade complex petroleum pollutants.
