Faculty

 Dr. Latifah Almaghrabi is an Assistant Professor of Bioengineering. She brings a strong background in Electrical Engineering and a multidisciplinary research focus. Her research is driven by the pursuit of understanding the fundamentals in science that govern interactions from a subatomic scale to whole organismal scales. Her current research interests span areas of implantable medical devices, developing electrode-scaffold systems for spinal cord regeneration, and building full experimental systems dedicated to studying whole organism mechanosensation and the role of deep learning in investigating animal locomotion. Latifah's research interests extend beyond the world of living things to investigating electron transport mechanisms in GaN-based nanomaterials and the development of nano-energy harvesters and optoelectronics.


Education:

  • Dual Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University, Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, United States; and in Electrical Engineering from the University of Aveiro in Portugal (2025).
  • M.S. in Electrical Engineering from King Abdullah University of Science and Technology, Thuwal, Saudi Arabia (2020).
  • B.S. in Electrical Engineering from Georgia Institute of Technology, Atlanta, Georgia, United States (2018).
