The Bioengineering Department hosted 2 prestigious visitors from SaudiVax, a partner of PnuVax, an internationally known US based vaccine and therapeutic antibody company. Dr. Donald Gerson, COO & Co-Founder, Canada & KAUST Office and Prof. Mazen M. Hassanain, Managing Director, KAUST Office, met with Dr. Jameel Althagfi, Bioengineering Chairman to get a brief about the working of the Bioengineering program and the course structures of the various programs offered by the department. They visited some classrooms and discussed with the students and faculty. They were immensely pleased with the quality of our program and the potential of our students. They cited that our program is the only one dedicated to Bioengineering in the entire Kingdom.

Talks about a potential 3-month training program for our students was discussed during this visit. Also, they mentioned that they would need 7 graduates each year for employment in their company.

Dr. Garson offered to be a guest speaker in the area of “Industrial Bioprocess and Pharmaceutical Technology” to our students in the near future.
