Dr. Tanzilur Rahman is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Bioengineering at King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals. He received a BSc. in Computer Engineering from the North South University, Bangladesh, an MSc, in Electrical Engineering from Sheffield University, UK, and a PhD in Bioengineering from The University of Tokyo. In Japan, under the Japan Government Scholarship (MEXT), he worked on developing an automated microelectrofluidic system for rapid miRNA profiling. After his PhD, he worked at the Innovation Centre of Nano Medicine, Tokyo as a recipient of the JASSO Follow-up Research Fellowship and the Biosensing Lab at IIT Madras through the Indian Science and Research Fellowship. There, he worked on a U-bent fiber optic biosensor to detect DNA. His research interests include biomolecular sensing, medical device design, micro total analysis systems, smartphone-based sensing, etc. He is also interested in integrating AI in biosensing.
