Abstract:
Astrophysical black holes are usually engulfed in bright accretion disks. The inner edge of the accretion disk coincides with the innermost stable circular orbit (ISCO) when the disk is thin. Typically, the position of the ISCO is determined by the spacetime geometry of the black hole only. We show that weak electromagnetic fields of black holes are as influential as that spacetime geometry and must always be taken into consideration. In particular, we show that the inclusion of trace electromagnetic fields can lead to observable interesting structures in the accretion disk.
